Swine Flu Update – Issued Wednesday 24 June 2009
– 8 confirmed cases in Wales, including 3 new cases: – A 19 year old female from Monmouthshire linked to a confirmed case of swine flu in Cambridge. She has been offered antiviral medicine and is recovering. The NPHS has identified three close contacts who are all are well. – A 20 year old male from Torfaen linked to a confirmed case of swine flu in Bristol. He has been offered antiviral medicine and is recovering.
Swine Flu Media Bulletin Issued At: 11am Wednesday 17 June 2009, Wales
- 3 confirmed cases in Wales. – 0 probable cases in Wales. – 136 people have been under investigation in Wales. Of these, swine flu has been confirmed in three cases (see above) and ruled out in 123 cases, leaving 10 still under investigation. All of these are displaying, or have displayed, mild symptoms. – Of the 10 people under investigation, seven were well when first identified, but reported recent flu-like symptoms following travel to affected areas.

– 0 confirmed cases in Wales. — 80 people have been under investigation in Wales. Of these, swine flu has been ruled out in 71 cases, leaving 9 still under investigation. All of these are displaying, or have displayed, mild symptoms. — Of the 9 people under investigation, five people were well when first identified, but reported recent flu-like symptoms following travel to Mexico.
House Scheduled To Vote On SCHIP Bill Wednesday; Senate Committee Will Consider Bill Thursday
The House on Wednesday is expected to pass legislation (HR 2) reauthorizing and expanding SCHIP to cover an additional 4.1 million children, the Washington Post reports. The measure, which will cost an estimated $33 billion, would extend the program for four-and-one-half years and add to the about seven million children already enrolled.
