Family Physician Survey In Mainz: Patients With Depression Frequently Suffer From Medically Unexplained Pain

Pain symptoms that cannot be attributed, or at least not fully attributed, to an organic origin are more frequently and more severely experienced by patients with depression than by those without. “It is the case that women are much more frequently affected by depression and also by so-called somatoform pain disorder than men,” explains Dirk Frieser, psychologist at the Institute of Psychology at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz.

Physicians Caught In Bureaucratic Nightmare While Medicaid Children Suffer, USA

While only two-thirds of Texas doctors treat Medicaid patients, a Texas government agency is using tactics that might turn more doctors away from the program, according to the Texas Medical Association (TMA). In one recent example, Texas’ Office of Inspector General (OIG), a Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) agency, told San Antonio physician Milissa Aldridge, MD, that she can treat Medicaid patients only if she pays the state nearly $1 million.

63 Percent Of Rheumatoid Arthritis Patients Suffer Psychiatric Disorders, With Depressive Spectrum Conditions Most Likely

Over half (63 percent) of patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) also suffer from psychiatric disorders, with the majority of these (87 percent) occurring in the depressive spectrum, according to a new study.
