MDA, Walgreens Join Forces To Offer Seasonal Flu Shots
Continuing a service it has provided for decades, the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) is again offering seasonal flu shots to people who have muscular dystrophy and related diseases. To assist individuals in obtaining an immunization this flu season, MDA is again teaming up with Walgreens to offer shots at more than 7,000 Walgreens points of care across the country, including its stores in all 50 states and 340 Take Care Clinics, through a voucher program beginning Sept. 1.

Walgreens (NYSE:WAG)(NASDAQ:WAG) is making it faster and easier to get a flu shot this season. The nation’s largest drugstore chain announced it will begin offering seasonal flu shots on Sept. 1 at more than 7,000 points of care nationwide, including nearly all of its stores in 50 states and almost 350 in-store Take Care Clinics.
Adults With Asthma Not Getting Their Flu Shots – At-Risk Population Under Vaccinated
Because of increased risk of complications from influenza, vaccination of adults and children with asthma is recommended by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices. The Healthy People 2010 Objectives call for annual influenza vaccination of at least 60% of adults aged 18-64 years with asthma. However, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) investigators have determined that the vaccination levels among asthma sufferers falls well short of this guideline.
Vaccine Maker To Give 100 Million Swine Flu Shots To WHO
Sanofi-aventis, a French global healthcare company that makes vaccines announced on Wednesday that it will be giving the World Health Organization (WHO) 100 million doses of vaccine for H1N1 swine flu so it can distribute them to the countries that most need them. Sanofi-aventis Chief Executive Officer Christopher A Viehbacher told the opening session of the Pacific Health Summit in Seattle, Washington that he wanted to back WHO Director General’s call for common action.
