Cases Of The 2009 H1N1 Influenza A Virus Confirmed In Crawford And Miami Counties

Cases of the 2009 H1N1 influenza A virus has been confirmed in a Crawford County adult and a Miami County child. These are the first cases identified in both counties. Local health departments are following the guidance provided by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) when dealing with a confirmed case. This includes a thorough case investigation and management of the patient and close contacts.

Legislation Introduced To Tackle California’s GPCI Problem, Raise Medicare Rates In Certain High-Cost Counties

U.S. Rep. Sam Farr (D-Calif.) and Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) introduced legislation sponsored by the California Medical Association to eliminate one of the biggest barriers for seniors to get access to health care – low Medicare reimbursement rates in several counties. The low rates have forced many doctors to opt out of Medicare or limit the patients they take through the program.

First Novel H1N1 Influenza Cases Confirmed In Baldwin, Colbert And Dale Counties

The Alabama Department of Public Health has confirmed its first novel H1N1 influenza cases in Baldwin, Colbert and Dale counties. As of May 29, there are 85 confirmed and 9 probable cases of novel H1N1 influenza in the state. No deaths have been associated with the virus in Alabama.

First Cases Of Novel H1N1 Influenza Identified In Etowah And Mobile Counties

The Alabama Department of Public Health has identified 14 new cases of novel H1N1 influenza, including the first cases identified in Etowah and Mobile counties. This brings the total number of probable and confirmed cases in the state to 55.
