CMA Praises SCHIP Signing, Calls On State Lawmakers To Cover Kids By Matching Federal Commitment
President Obama signed legislation today reauthorizing the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) and expanding its coverage, bringing California a total of $1.5 billion in much-needed funding for 2009. The California Medical Association praised the measure, which will help meet the growing need for children’s health coverage, and encouraged state lawmakers to commit the state funding required to get the maximum federal dollars.
